about

Shortly after making the "Techniques Of Neutralization" demo Raiche, Redmond and Law went into the studio to work on a more proper release. Though the Crane EP was reviewed really well the band was never happy with it and used it as a learning tool for the upcoming The Wind Blew All The Fires Out full length. Mike Law explains:
"I remember being incredibly driven to get the recording done but I don't think we were actually ready. The songs weren't there and the recording wasn't as focused as it should've been. It was only a year later that we'd go in to record The Wind Blew All The Fires Out but by that time I had learned how to prepare. I really don't think the EP holds up that well but it has a few moments. We played Dulling Gauge a lot on tour around that time and sometimes it felt amazing. We opened and closed some sets on a U.S. tour with Short Instrumental and we even played What To Do With Absent Space years later while opening for Fugazi, but the EP, in my mind, didn't fully capture any of the songs and it was definitely our fault for not knowing yet how to record or prepare."
